World Earth Day

Earth Day Use

Today is Earth Day and we thought what better way to celebrate than to focus on the businesses that have the “Earth” at the forefront of their minds every day…. B Corporations!

What is a B Corporation? Well in simple terms it is a business that put its people and the planet before profit. B Corp certification guarantees that a business is measuring its environmental and social impact and B Corps commit to transparency by publishing their score online. It is not something that is earnt easily, it takes a lot of commitment and hard work from an organisation.

The certification doesn’t just evaluate a product or service; it assesses the overall positive impact of the company that stands behind it and increasingly that’s what people care most about.

We are very fortunate in the UK to have a large number of businesses that have been awarded B Corp status and in a variety of industries to include but not limited to;

Agriculture, Alcohol, Art, Cleaning Products, Fashion, Feminine Care Products, Food, Footwear, Hair Products, Healthcare, Hot Drinks, Household Products, Jewellery, Office Supplies, Outdoor clothing, Outdoor equipment, Packaging, Pet Food, Publications, Skincare, Soft Drinks, Sports Equipment.

The B Corp community has an opportunity to lead by example inspire and spur action around the globe through innovative programs that mitigate climate threats and help their workers and communities adapt to the changes predicted.

We have noticed more and more candidates wanting to work for businesses that are focused on these ethics, especially graduates who spend a lot of their studies looking at sustainability and having a passion for the planet. Our direct environmental impact is no longer debatable. It is not theoretical, or something a scientist needs to try to explain, we are much further forward in our knowledge of what needs to be done.

What changes have you made or intend on making to help our planet. We only have one Earth lets be the change we need to see!
