Pest and Disease Crop Walker with ref. J35308

We are recruiting for a Pest and Disease Crop Walker to work as part of the Soft Fruit Production Team of our client, and reporting to the Intensive Crops/Glasshouse Manager.

The department is responsible for the Soft Fruit production of the farm, ensuring delivery of high quality 1st class Strawberries, Raspberries, and Blueberries, as well as assisting with other crops the business grows. The department is involved with implementing effective growing systems, ensuring that required husbandry works are carried out, the delivery of timely and correct irrigation, spraying, pest and disease control, and all other elements related to the crop production.

Job Responsibilities;
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a strategy for pest and disease to reduce threat to the crop, monitoring the crop for signs of pest and disease in line with the strategy, for providing advice, and guidance, and assisting with the application of treatments/sprays/biologicals as part of the implementation of the strategy. When issues from pests and/or diseases are in the crop, the successful candidate needs to be aware of these at the earliest stage when the threat level is low and quickly communicate and provide action for the problem so that the issue is resolved in a timely manner. This position will also have a level of supervision responsibility, where the candidate will be required to monitor individuals or groups of people who carry out tasks within the scope of the strategy.

Qualifications or desired skills;

Desirable- Pest and Disease Experience or related qualification(s)
Desirable- Spray Qualifications PA1, PA3, PA Special
Essential- Full Valid Clean Driving Licence
