Compass Point has partnered with a real gem of a business to recruit a further Mechanical Design Engineer for their expanding team. Rare opportunity to make your mark with one of the oldest and well established Engineering firms in Suffolk. Trading for over 150 years, this business is well respected d in their sector with a customer base that is the envy of their competitors.

You will be joining a design team of 5 engineers focussed on R&D to enhance their existing product line. Their machines a special purpose and designed for a niche sector of the market. You will ideally have designed complex machinery and sheet metal in the past.

Key aspects of the Mechanical Design Engineer role include;

Competent in technical aspects of mechanical design and development of special purpose machinery Experience of working within a multiskilled environment (i.e. knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic and electrical components)
2D and 3D CAD design experience ideally from using SolidWorks
Provide a high level of commercial awareness to ensure design solutions are delivered in a cost-effective manner & design changes are managed in accordance with standard operation procedures

The company has a strong culture of supporting team members and valuing training so if there are any gaps in your skills, they'd be happy to train you. Mechanical Design Engineers with experience of designing complex/bespoke special purpose machinery will be well suited. SolidWorks isn't an essential requirement, the hiring team is open to all major CAD package experience.
