Compass Point has partnered with a lead Food processing business as they seek to appoint a new Maintenance Team Leader following internal promotion. Within this role you will be responsible for 10 Engineers and work closely with the operations manager to drive efficiency within the department.

As the team leader you will be overseeing and organising the maintenance team on a day to day basis. This involves co-ordinating the departments labour and skill set to carry out Routine maintenance, Breakdowns, Projects and any other plant-based tasks to agreed timescales and schedules.

You will be responsible for maintaining an efficient and up to date PPM system used across all plant and company buildings. Leading by example, you will promote a pro-active and organised work ethic to the Maintenance team, always considering effects of works on H&S and production factors.

Key tasks and responsibilities of the role are:

  • Effectively oversee engineering personnel to ensure that all activities are performed safely,
  • effectively and efficiently in accordance with site procedures and best practice.
  • Deliver planned and predictive maintenance compliance.
  • Use root cause analysis techniques to improve lost time in production associated with maintenance
  • activities.
  • Identify business improvement opportunities and implement as agreed.
  • Deliver allocated projects, safely, on time and within budget.
  • Manage engineering contractors on site to ensure they meet the legal and company requirements.
  • Develop team members by conducting or arranging for employee training in safety, repair, and
  • maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
  • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so
  • that each member of the team understands the standards, attitudes and behaviours expected of
  • them.
  • Manage and write permits for work activities.
  • Ensure all work carried out and use of spares is promptly and fully documented via paper and
  • electronic systems as required using the plant maintenance system.
  • Liaise with personnel, such as management, engineering, compliance, EH&S to coordinate work
  • activities, resolve employee grievance and identify and review resource needs
  • Maintaining and promoting correct health & safety standards, following the company policies and
  • procedures, always taking a responsible and proactive approach to safety.
  • Developing and maintaining an engaged a strong working relationship with the malt management
  • team, site engineering and other areas of the business.

You will have Supervisory experience within a maintenance engineering environment with strong electrical mechanical skills (Preferably Apprentice served electrical bias.) With the ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics, using all your fault-finding skills.

You will be an effective communicator to your team and other managers, delegating tasks and monitoring progress so production continues uninterrupted 24/7, making sure systems and paperwork are updated regularly with progress reports.

This is a 37.5 hour, Monday to Friday days only role.
