Compass Point Recruitment is proud to be partnering with and supporting a fantastic local client, who is a key-player in their market, based in Stowmarket.

We are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineering Manager to join our client's team. You will be stepping into a busy varied role, with a supportive management structure with strong plans for growth and development.

Your key responsibilities will include:

This role involves leading, developing, and motivating the engineering team to ensure optimal plant availability for efficient production, adhering to all quality and safety standards.

As the Maintenance Engineering Manager, you will oversee critical areas including budget proposals, collaborating with the business to monitor and justify budgets versus actual spending. You will support updates to maintenance procedures, analyse outcomes, and ensure timely revisions of handbooks and work instructions.

Collaborating with Plant Management, you will prioritize interventions, drive maintenance best practices, and oversee preventive maintenance initiatives. You will contribute to continuous improvement by identifying system and equipment enhancements and leading maintenance improvement efforts. Additionally, you will manage spare parts, ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and handle technical KPIs and analyses, promoting standardized maintenance practices.

Your training responsibilities include defining and implementing maintenance resource plans and supporting specific training programs. In capital projects, you will assist in analysing change requests, collaborate during the equipment design phase for optimization, and oversee accurate machinery change reporting. You will lead specific asset projects and act as deputy for the Site Engineering Manager.

Key Skills Required:

Essential:
• Proven experience managing engineering teams in a 24/7 environment.
• Knowledge of best practice maintenance strategies and philosophies.
• Demonstrated improvements in maintenance KPIs.
• Ability to analyse data to identify opportunities.
• Experience in FMCG process and engineering.
• Experience managing and supervising contractors.
• Capability to lead or participate in capital and improvement projects.
• Adaptability to meet new challenges.
• Strong deadline management and follow-up skills.
• Effective communication at all levels; verbal, written, and presentations.
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
• Open-minded yet assertive.
• Ability to disagree & commit'.
Desirable:
• Understanding of GMP requirements in the FMCG (ideally food) industry.
• Knowledge of engineering services, both mechanical and electrical.
• Familiarity with DSEAR, ATEX, HAZOP, PSSR, Legionella.

Key Professional / Educational Background

Essential:
• Degree or equivalent experience.
• Passion for manufacturing and process equipment.
• Knowledge of building services maintenance.
• Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis techniques.
• Strong IT skills, including intermediate Excel.
• Knowledge of Reliability Centred Maintenance strategies and implementation.

Desirable:
• Qualification in Electrical/Mechanical, Chemical/Process Engineering.
• Understanding of Total Productive Maintenance methodologies.
• Familiarity with project management principles.
• Understanding of change management principles.
• Exposure to Facilities management.

The salary range for this role with be dependent on experience, but up to £65,000 per annum.
