Your role will be to provide expert knowledge and support the Head of Health & Safety, fostering a positive health & safety culture across the company.
This role includes maintaining processes and procedures to ensure compliance with ISO standards.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Maintain necessary processes and procedures to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
• Manage and conduct internal audits as required.
• Oversee the company's environmental systems, serving as the sustainability representative.
• Assist in developing internal health, safety, and environmental policies and strategies.
• Support the Head of Health & Safety in managing a comprehensive health & safety advisory service.
• Help manage the site safety committee and ensure a safe working environment company-wide.
• Stay current with health & safety laws and legislation.
• Communicate professionally with the HSE and other local authorities.
• Assist with producing inspection reports, management reports, newsletters, and bulletins.
• Deliver presentations, toolbox talks, and training to employees and managers.
• Develop and implement documented procedures, safe systems of work, and risk assessments as required.
• Be approachable and available to all employees, handling queries confidentially with patience and assertiveness.
• Conduct bi-weekly reviews with the Head of Health & Safety to update and identify safety issues.
• Act as a point of contact for pre-qualification memberships such as CHAS, Achilles, and Constructionline, keeping profiles updated.
• Perform other duties within the scope of the position as required by the Head of Health & Safety.
Person Specification:
Qualifications/Education:
• Internal auditing certification.
• NGC1 Management of Health & Safety.
• CDM Regulations Training.
Experience:
• Familiarity with ISO procedures.
• Background in manufacturing, construction, or a similar field.
• Preferable health & safety experience.
• Quality control experience.
• Understanding of environmental requirements and sustainability.
• Report writing skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
Specific Skills:
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 systems.
• Understanding of PQQ processes.
• Good knowledge of relevant legislation.
• Effective time management and prioritization skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
