Job Title: Accountant
Location: Newmarket, Suffolk
Salary: £34,000 per annum (circa)
Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (with flexibility available)

About the Company:

Our client is a well-established manufacturing business based in Newmarket, known for delivering high-quality products. With a small, close-knit team, they are seeking a dedicated and proactive Accountant to join their business and play a key role in their financial operations.

Role Overview:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated Accountant to take ownership of the entire accounts function in a standalone role. You will report directly to the Managing Director and be an integral part of the team. The role offers flexibility, autonomy, and the chance to make a significant impact within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the company.
  • Preparation and review of monthly management accounts.
  • Budgeting and forecasting to assist in financial planning.
  • Liaise with auditors to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Processing of payroll, VAT returns, and general ledger entries.
  • Ensure all financial records are accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
  • Handle accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Assist with cash flow management and financial reporting to senior management.
  • Support the Managing Director with strategic decision-making through detailed financial analysis.

Key Requirements:
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience within a similar standalone or small team accounting role, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Sage software
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to liaise internally as well as externally
