Compass Point has exclusively partnered with a Global engineering business to recruit for their European service centre in Bury St Edmunds. The business develops scientific calibration equipment sold globally and is a leader in its sector. Their niche products are highly technical and full training on how to service and refurbish them will be given.

You will be technically astute and hold some form of Engineering Qualification (HND/HNC/Degree) to undertake the Service Technician. The role could even suit someone who has recently completed their engineering studies and seeks their first industry role.

The role will involve trouble shooting and repairing broken equipment and also giving support to customers with issues either via telephone or video link. Product training takes between 6 to 12 months and, once complete, there is contractual pay rise.

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, upgrade and calibration of all equipment.
  • Ensuring proper calibration and working order of instruments and tools required.
  • Ensuring adherence to ISO 9001-2008 and all quality policies and procedures as applicable.
  • Logging troubleshooting, documenting and addressing customer issues to closure using phone/emails/cases in a timely manner.
  • Preparing quotations for repairs, calibrations, spare and modifications. Giving technical support on sales quotations
  • Maintaining product inventory by ensuring the accuracy of Bill of Materials; and properly documenting and costing additional parts needed.
  • Maintaining current standards and practices for current products as well as accomplishing the training required for new products.
  • Working with other team members team to ensure department policies and procedures are adhered to when testing products and documentation.
