Local organisation based in Bury St Edmunds are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Accounts Assistant to join their team. Supporting the company with the day to day running of the office as well as supporting the team with admin tasks, you will be responsible for accounting tasks including invoicing, reconciliation of bank accounts and financial reporting to the team and MD.

Working as the sole accounts person using Sage, reporting into the MD, you will be responsible for:

Preparing monthly accounting figures for Director
Credit Control
Preparing information and reporting to Accountants at year end
Raising sales invoices and entering sales receipts
Inputting purchase invoices and entering payments
Maintaining petty cash
Reconciling bank account
Preparing VAT Returns
Preparing monthly Payroll for external payroll bureau
Inputting timesheets and Pension payments
Entering wages journal
Processing monthly expenses
Maintaining spreadsheets for unpaid invoices, job Files/Sheets and setting up new projects/customers
Using Jobcosting System
Setting up new projects
Preparing reports for distribution
Using on-line banking
Checking bank weekly and providing statement to Director
Making monthly and ad hoc online bank payments
Opening and dealing with post
Answering phone and dealing with enquiries
Other duties on an ad hoc basis including preparing letters, reports, taking minutes of meetings, banking, shopping and making drinks!!

To be successful in your application, you will have strong accounts and Sage experience to include the above duties along with good Microsoft office skills.

This role is based in the town centre, without parking, but close to parking facilities. Hours of work are 8.45am - 5.15pm, finishing early on a Friday. Part-time hours will happily be considered at a minimum of 30 hours, across 5 days (flexible hours within the working day) 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays on offer.
