Our client an established manufacturer and distributor are looking for an Assistant Buyer to join their team at their offices in Sudbury, Suffolk.
Our client is looking for someone to join their forward thinking company, in an opportunity to join a growing and highly successful team reporting into the Buyer.
Key Responsibilities include:
• Develop the company supplier base to deliver maximum service for the lowest cost in line with KPI requirements
• Carry out purchasing transactions in the most cost effective manner
• Build strong relationships with local suppliers ensuring quality and service are monitored on a regular basis
• Negotiate prices and service with local suppliers including discounts based on volumes with all local suppliers aimed at reducing costs for materials
• Liaise closely with the Warehouse Manager/ Supervisor on stock holding volumes and space requirements
• Administer purchase orders
• Source alternative suppliers when required
• Identify potential customers where possible from supplier contacts
• Support with tenders and product queries
• Understand the local rebate structure
• Support new product development
• Support projects at a local level
To be successful is this position you must be an accomplished multi-tasker with the ability to prioritise and manage changing prioritises, with good and clear communication skills.
You must be prepared to work well with others and under pressure in a busy office environment. You will have a good knowledge of I.T software including MS Excel, Word and databases. Ideally you will have come from an operational/ purchasing background and have clear decision making and negotiation skills. You will have the ability to work independently and to deadlines.
